Ready, Set, Salmon!

As the first salmon opening nears, there's a palpable sense of energy all around. Our bay is slowly filling up with all our fellow fishermen opening up their camps and getting out their gear with a spring in the step and a sparkle in the eye. This afternoon we felt a little magnitude 2,8 earthquake rattle the house, followed by an episode of hail. We relish these reminders that all our human activity is but a blip in the grand scheme of things, and take them as cues to look up from the frenzy and to be aware and grateful for this life we live.
